WINSTON Churchill will always be remembered as the brave and convicted British Prime Minister who led our country to war. Despite his heroics, there are some who have branded him an Imperialist "white supremacist". Here's why... What were Winston Churchill's views on race? There are many people, both now and at Churchill's time, who found his views on race and ethnicity alarming. As an MP, he showed a very Imperial mindset in his desire to conquer more nations based on his belief that "the Aryan stock is bound to triumph", the Independent reported. And in 1937, he told the Palestine Royal Commission no great wrong had been done to the Red Indians of America or the black people of Australia, according to the BBC. Prime Minister Stephen Baldwin was warned not to appoint him to Cabinet because his views were so old-fashioned, with even Churchill's doctor saying: "Winston thinks only of the colour of their skin." In a passionate, expletive-ridden monologue at the Cannes Film Festival, director Spike Lee lambasted Donald Trump for the U.S. president's response to last year's violent white supremacist protest in Charlottesville, Virginia. Lee told reporters Tuesday that following the violence in Charlottesville, Trump had the opportunity to denounce the Ku Klux Klan and the alt-right. But Trump instead chose to say there was "blame on both sides" in the unrest between the neo-Nazi groups and counter-protesters. The 61-year-old filmmaker said Trump — whom he refused to call by name — had "a chance to say we are about love and not hate," and sharply criticized him for not denouncing the KKK. "It was a defining moment and he could have said to the United States and the world that we're better than that," said Lee. Brandon Lecroy was arrested last month after he gave the man a $100 down payment and told him he might have more people to kill later, according to an affidavit unsealed after Lecroy was indicted Tuesday. Lecroy found the "hit man" through a white supremacist group, authorities said. Lecroy sent the undercover officer pictures of the neighbor he wanted killed in the small town of Hodges in Greenwood County, according to court papers. Hodges is about 85 miles west of Columbia. The affidavit did not explain why Lecroy allegedly wanted to kill his neighbor, but he did tell the officer "$500 and he's a ghost." Lecroy, 32, has been sent for a mental exam, according to court papers. He's charged with murder for hire and solicitation to commit a … [Read more...] about Police: Man used white supremacist group to hire “hit man” for black neighbor
