Weight-loss surgery was associated with reduced average costs to the UK National Health Service by €2742 (£1944), and a gain of 0.8 life-years and 4.0 quality-adjusted life years over a lifetime compared with usual care. It also had the potential to reduce the lifetime risks of obesity-related cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. The results emphasize the clinical benefit of weight-loss surgery and the monetary gains that result from avoiding obesity-related illnesses. "Despite increased rates of obesity in the UK, England has one of the lowest utilization rates of bariatric operations in Europe and issues with limitations in patient access to surgery," said co-author Vasily Lukyanov, of Synergus AB, in Sweden. "The findings of the study justify non-limited access to surgery to all eligible categories of obese patients in England." Story Source: Materials provided by Wiley. Drinks containing thylakoids, green leaf membranes derived from the spinach extract, reduces hedonic hunger up to 95 percent and boosts weight loss by 43 percent. In many cases, unhealthy eating habits and obesity are attributed to poor food choices people make due to hedonic hunger, or in other words, cravings. In an attempt to satisfy their hunger, many people eat unhealthy foods, like fast foods and sweets. This recent study shows that consuming thylakoid, a compound found in spinach extract restrains cravings, as a result of the extract’s capability of reinforcing satiety hormone production in the body. This leads to increased weight loss, healthier eating habits, and better appetite management. According to Lund University’s Professor of Medicine and Physiological Chemistry, Charlotte Erlanson-Albertsson, “Our analyses show that having a … [Read more...] about Spinach Extract Reduces Cravings and Increases Weight Loss
