Te-Hina Paopao, who averaged 17.5 points and 9.2 rebounds as a junior last season for La Jolla Country Day, has made a commitment to play women’s basketball at Oregon.A 5-foot-9 point guard, Paopao missed most of her first two high school seasons with injuries. She broke out last season, helping the Torreys to a 22-12 record while also averaging 4.0 assists and 2.4 steals a game.Considered a five-star player by most college recruiting services, Paopao scored a career-high 32 points against powerhouse Stockton St. Mary’s and had 20 or more points in eight other games.Oregon was 33-5 last season and 16-2 in Pac-12 play, claiming the conference title. Ethan Happ had 26 points and 10 rebounds as Wisconsin beat Michigan, breaking away in the final minute for a 64-54 victory. Virginia, which was No. 1 in the coaches’ poll, fell 72-70 at Duke, which was No. 1 in the AP poll. It was the fourth matchup of top-ranked teams in the sport’s history. The Blue Devils (15-2, 4-1 ACC) got 30 points from RJ Barrett and 27 from Zion Williamson. The Cavaliers (16-1, 4-1) lost what was a tournament-caliber game throughout.
