Families who keep gold and other designer jewellery in the house are being warned to up their security after an elderly couple were raided by an armed gang. Detectives warned of a spike in burglaries during the upcoming Hindu festival Diwali after the couple from Hampton Hill were threatened by four thugs who demanded their “Asian gold”. The woman, 77, had a chisel held to her throat and was made to hand over her wedding ring. Her partner, 82, was marched upstairs and made to hand over more jewellery and £1,260 in cash. Cops have now launched Operation Nugget to clamp down on the thefts, with £9 million in jewels stolen from Asian families in just one year. The elderly woman, who did not want to be named, said: “These men came in through our open kitchen window and threatened my husband and I. “They turned our house upside down and stole our jewellery, including my much loved wedding ring. “I would urge everyone to store their jewellery away from … [Read more...] about Londoners who keep gold in the house told to up security
ISIS is still operating sleeper cells in Syrian cities that carry out attacks while blending in with the local population. According to a security officer for the Kurdish YPG forces the jihadists have secretly returned home after being driven out of 98 per cent of the areas they once controlled. Last week coordinated attacks by the extremist group on the normally peaceful southern city of Sweida resulted 200 dead and hundreds more being wounded. “ISIS has lost most of its territory and is on the run in many parts of the country,” Mohammed Al-Hamdouny, told Sun Online. “But ISIS still have many supporters and sleeper cells in Manbij, Raqqa and especially in Deir-ez-Zor. “We have reports that some of the ISIS fighters, who fled to the countryside during the fighting, have now returned to the cities.” Asked if these fanatics may carry out additional attacks, he said: “We are monitoring the situation very carefully, but identifying all ISIS [supporters] … [Read more...] about ISIS death cult is STILL plaguing Syrian cities at night with sleeper cells hiding in the day only to launch attacks in the dark
AN 86-year-old gran suffered a broken neck and back after a burglar dragged her up a set of stairs by her ANKLES and "smashed her face in", her family has revealed. Police are hunting Nicholas Mason, 43, who is accused of tricking his way into Veronica Eustace's home in Yardley, Birmingham, by pretending to be a relative. He got her to open the door by yelling "nan help" from the back door before punching her to the floor, according to one of Veronica's 14 grandchildren, Lindsey McDonough. Ms McDonough, 32, said he took the landline phone and ordered the retired care home worker to stay in the kitchen while he looked for cash upstairs. She added: "Luckily my gran has her wits about her and used another phone to call my mum and said, 'I'm being robbed'. "He has come back downstairs and seen her and started attacking her again, he dragged her through the house and up the stairs by her ankles. "He has started kicking and punching her in the face, he has completely smashed it … [Read more...] about Gran, 86, left with broken neck after being dragged upstairs by her ANKLES by burglar who ‘smashed her face in’
DO we really have the stomach to stop London becoming the murder capital of the Western world? I have my doubts. Bill Bratton, the former US police chief who cleaned up New York, has demonstrated how it is done. Crack down hard on petty crime, believes Bratton, and you reduce the chance of serious crime ever becoming part of our lives. Put enough police on the street to combat anti-social behaviour, as Bratton did in New York in the Nineties, and little thugs never get the chance to grow into big thugs. If a society demonstrates it will not tolerate low-level crime — vandalism, broken windows, fly tipping, graffiti — then it will never have to live with the murder epidemic that London is enduring today. But Bratton’s zero tolerance policy takes a steely determination. And timid, virtue-signalling British politicians from Tory Theresa May, back when she was Home Secretary, to Labour’s Sadiq Khan, the current rubbish Mayor of London, have opposed … [Read more...] about So who is going to protect our kids from the gangs and thugs as crime in London soars, Mr Khan?
