Man sues Disney for false arrest made right before proposing to his fiance
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A New York man who was arrested for getting into an altercation with a Walt Disney World worker just moments before he planned to propose to his fiance is suing the theme park resort, claiming he never touched the employee.Marc Rubin filed the lawsuit last month in state court in Orlando, Florida, alleging false arrest.The lawsuit says Rubin was scouting out a location in front of Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom to propose to his future wife three years ago. According to the lawsuit filed in late September, Marc Rubin, 57, was at the park in July 2015 and planned to propose to his then-girlfriend after the nightly parade in front of the Cinderella castle. Rubin said he chose an area he wanted to use to propose when a Disney employee, Nicole Guzman-Ortiz, 24, asked him to move. The lawsuit says Rubin refused to move, there was an argument, and Guzman-Ortiz accused him of grabbing the back of her shirt and the front of her shirt collar. He says it saved him from what could have been years in prison after NYPD cops stopped the 30-year-old for walking down the street with an open beer. It was unopened in a brown bag, Reese told the I-Team in an exclusive interview. Reese has filed a $1 million notice of claim against New York City, claiming he was falsely arrested for a bogus reason and then illegally searched in March of 2016.
