And so to Caprice Bourret. Remember her? Of course you do. She was an American model who morphed into a singer and then businesswoman with a lingerie range. She’s still an entrepreneur with a lingerie business and has since expanded into homeware. At the height of her modelling career Caprice charged £15,000 for a 45-minute appearance and if the event overran she’d ask for an additional £5,000. Can you imagine what your boss would say if you suggested £5k compensation for overtime. Other than “jog on”? Caprice has been chatting to the Sunday Telegraph and displaying a refreshing, unabashed, attitude to being filthy rich. “I am the first to tell you that I love money. I am loud and proud on this. I am very American. I have worked hard and am very proud to be where I am today.” It was her mother who drilled into her that financial independence provides options, particularly for woman. Asked if there was ever a time in her life when she … [Read more...] about Sleb Safari: Caprice and the perils of capricious currencies
HAVE you put your Christmas tree up yet? Or do you abide by the December 8 to January 6 tradition? Sleb Safari prefers the traditional tree dates but respects everyone’s right to display their Christmas how and when they want. It does however marvel at anyone who can keep a tree alive from November to January and can’t help but wonder whether the numerous celebrities who are already showcasing their trees on social media have an understudy should the leading tree begin to show signs of fatigue around mid-December. It wouldn’t be a celebrity Christmas tree-a-thon if there weren’t some that were exquisitely tasteful and some that were over the top. In no particular order we’ll start with Stacey Solomon and her unicorn which just about fitted in the boot of what looks like a people carrier judging by her Twitter snap and move on to Megan Davison (engaged to premiership footballer Jordan Pickford) whose tree is barely visible beneath the sizeable polar bears, … [Read more...] about Sleb Safari: Celebrity Christmas decorations are always extra
AND so to the Australian ‘jungle’ where the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here camp has been rocked by the arrival of Emperor Noel Edmonds. So committed to this new endeavor was Emperor Edmonds that he prepared for camp life by eating earthworms. “There are now no worms in our garden” he told The Sun, adding that they tasted “exactly as you’d expect”. Sleb Safari has never had cause to muse on the taste of worm but is cheerily confident that it’ll be like chicken. Noel entered the jungle as an emperor, golden wreath on his head, body draped in a toga and wearing obligatory red socks and hiking boots because, you know, health and safety. He had already alerted the viewing public to the fact that should he win the series he will retire. Presumably to Crinkly Bottom. Noel told The Sun: “If they do vote me king I will never appear on television again. Fifty years on TV is long enough – give us a break for Christ's … [Read more...] about Sleb Safari: I’m A Celebrity… Keep Noel Edmonds In There
HANDS down the funniest thing Sleb Safari has read in the past seven days is that scientists now believe T-Rex was more agile than its body shape would suggest and could, in fact, pivot like a “figure skater from hell”. Watch out Gemma Collins, Dancing On Ice is about to meet Jurassic Park. How different would that movie franchise have been if it had been set in the Antarctic rather than Central America? All this chat of showbiz switcheroos got Sleb Safari thinking, how would other iconic films or TV shows have fared with a tweak to the lead character? So, like any good (never-to-be) Pulitzer prize winning investigative journalist Sleb Safari turned to Google for the answers. Lo and behold an entire generation could have had a whole other set of cultural references. Take Matthew McConaughey for instance. He auditioned for the part of Jack Dawson in Titanic and thought he had it in the bag, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “I auditioned with Kate Winslet, had a good … [Read more...] about Sleb Safari: Matthew McConaughey as Jack Dawson in Titanic? Alright, alright, alright
FOURTEEN years as a Strictly Come Dancing judge and Bruno Tonioli has never watched an episode of the show. Can you believe it? The rest of us, committed Strictly fans one and all, have clocked up more than 100 episodes across the 14 years although – confession session – once the number of couples reached 15 and the longer shows began munching through more than two hours of the weekend, Sleb Safari stopped watching the first few weeks of each series. The way Sleb Safari sees it, there’s little point investing when you don’t know who some of the celebrity dancers are and everyone is rubbish for the first month. Bruno probably wishes he could let an understudy handle the first few weeks and slide into his judge’s seat around week five. If Sleb Safari were a judge, it would emulate Alan Sugar and do double eliminations as and when the mood took it. Bruno, like Len Goodman before him, doesn’t only judge Strictly for the BBC, he also sits on the judging … [Read more...] about Sleb Safari: Have you met ‘Sister’ Bruno Tonioli?
