Photo: John CliftonBut the Ilford Salvation Army (SA) is opening its temporary winter night shelter earlier and for longer to compensate. The SA’s Project Malachi was slated to open in November this year, seeing the creation of 42 units of temporary accommodation from recycled shipping containers in Chadwick Road. The visitors, aged between less than a year and their late 90s, enjoyed the harvest celebration in the "beautifully-decorated" St George’s Church, Modbury. The voices of Modbury Gospel Singers filled the church with entertainment at the start of the supper. Later in the evening the vicar, Matthew Rowland, lead an informative interview-style talk with Chris Murray from Pennywell Farm and there were activities for the children. THE unveiling of the world’s most expensive painting at the Louvre in Abu Dhabi has been postponed indefinitely. “Salvator Mundi” is believed to be the work of Leonardo da Vinci. Here’s what we know about the delay and the painting. What is the Salvator Mundi? The painting is believed to have been the work of renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci. The name translates to “Saviour of the World” and dates back to around 1500. The painting shows Jesus, in Renaissance dress, giving a benediction with his right hand raised and two fingers extended. He holds a transparent rock crystal orb in his left hand, signaling his role as savior of the world and master of the cosmos, and representing the 'crystalline sphere' of the heavens, as perceived during the Renaissance.
