Running back Dalvin Cook said his hamstring “feels great at this point” after the Vikings running back was held out of practice last week and missed Sunday’s loss to the Bills. Ahead of a quick turnaround Thursday night in Los Angeles, Cook was listed as not practicing Monday but said he expects to play against a Rams defense that is allowing a league-best 12 points per game. “Yeah, there’s a good chance,” Cook said. Thursday night’s start to Week 4 will mark about one year since Cook’s rookie season ended with a torn ACL. Cook, who has 185 yards from scrimmage in two games this season, called it a “milestone.” Tom Baker for Star Tribune “It’s been awhile since I overcame that thing. It’s definitely a milestone,” Cook said. “I got back kind of early. That was the plan and I’m happy with that process.” The Vikings offense was abysmal against the Bills without Cook in the lineup. In some ways, they’re dissimilar. One is a little taller than the other. One excels in space, using his jump-cut abilities to break defender’s ankles, while the other, though still elusive, is more of a power runner. I don’t think there’s been two at this time that are on the field doing what D’Andre and Jon … [Read more...] about Philly’s Taylor-Swift running back combo is among the best in college football
By Matt Kawahara Updated 4:48 pm PDT, Wednesday, August 22, 2018 Running back Doug Martin said Wednesday he’s used to a slightly heavier preseason workload than the Raiders have given him this month. “But I guess I am getting a little older,” Martin said. Martin, 29, played four snaps in the preseason opener against Detroit and had one carry for a 3-yard gain. Fellow back Marshawn Lynch played two snaps in the game. His one carry, for a 60-yard touchdown, was negated by a penalty. Both rested Saturday as Raiders head coach Jon Gruden held out most of his starters against the Rams, Oakland’s Week 1 opponent. Martin suggested another reason why the low profile might be beneficial. “Gruden’s taking care of his vets and his running backs,” Martin said. “Because I know the type of season we’re going to have, and the type of work that we’re going to produce, it’s actually probably a good idea that we get … [Read more...] about Raiders’ running backs building up to regular season
