Angelique S. Chengelis The Detroit News Published 6:31 PM EST Dec 26, 2018 Atlanta — Chris Evans played a supporting role to lead running back Karan Higdon, but he is now preparing for a chance to star for Michigan in the Peach Bowl. When Higdon announced last week he will sit out the bowl game to prepare for the NFL Draft, that meant Evans would likely take on a bigger role with assists from Tru Wilson and freshman Christian Turner, who has, from all accounts, had strong bowl practices. Hassan Haskins also is in the mix. Michigan will face Florida Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Wolverines are 10-2 and hoping to snap a two-game bowl losing streak. They are 4-0 against Florida. With Higdon’s departure goes the bulk of Michigan’s running game. He rushed for 1,178 yards and 10 touchdowns on 224 carries. Evans has run for 403 yards and four touchdowns on 74 carries. Florida has allowed an average of 169.7 yards rushing per … [Read more...] about With Karan Higdon out, UM’s Chris Evans ready to ‘attack’ opportunity

CHRIS Evans today held back tears as he thanked his wife and family during an emotional final breakfast show on Radio 2. The broadcaster, who has been at the BBC station since 2005 and has had the breakfast slot since January 2010, is returning to Virgin almost 20 years after he left. Evans, 52, told listeners today is a "sad day" and asked them to not "shed too many tears during our final morning". He also paused to compose himself as he spoke of how his wife, Natasha Shishmanian, had given him the "certainty to feel confident enough to embark upon a bit of uncertainty again". Evans said: "It is sad. It's a sad day today. But it is also an exciting day for everyone. You've got to turn the pages sometimes. "Please don't shed too many tears during our final morning." Evans married Shishmanian, 38, in 2007 and the pair welcomed twins in September this year. The Christmas Eve show was the former TFI Friday and Top Gear host's last before he is replaced by Zoe Ball in the New Year. Nick Baumgardner Detroit Free Press Published 7:56 PM EDT Oct 1, 2018 Michigan football junior defensive end Rashan Gary and junior running back Chris Evans are both "questionable" for Saturday's home game against Maryland, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. On his radio show Monday night, Harbaugh said he doesn't believe the injuries both players have dealt with recently will be "long-term" situations and said the training staff would have to see how practice progresses this week. Evans has missed the last two games with a leg strain. Gary, meanwhile, was limited two weeks ago against Nebraska with an apparent arm/shoulder issue. He left Michigan's win at Northwestern last week with what appeared to be a similar injury. Angelique S. Chengelis The Detroit News Published 7:21 PM EDT Oct 1, 2018 Ann Arbor — Whether starting defensive end Rashan Gary and running back Chris Evans will be available for Saturday's game against Maryland is unclear. "No updates this morning," Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday. He said Harbaugh said Monday night on his radio show that Gary and Evans are "questionable" for Saturday's game, adding he doesn't have a crystal ball to determine their availability. Evans has missed the last two games with an undisclosed injury, and Gary appeared to suffer an injury to his right shoulder/arm during the game at Northwestern last Saturday. Harbaugh also said he hasn’t yet received an explanation from the Big Ten on the controversial holding call against running back Karan Higdon during the win over Northwestern. The call negated a 20-yard run by quarterback Shea Patterson. Nick Baumgardner Detroit Free Press Published 8:43 PM EDT Sep 24, 2018 Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is hopeful junior running back Chris Evans can play this week at Northwestern. But he won't be taking any chances. Evans tweaked a leg muscle late in a win over SMU two weeks ago and after getting work in practice prior to the Nebraska game, was unable to play during the team's 56-10 win over the Cornhuskers. Moving forward, Harbaugh plans to be careful. U-M football film study: Devin Bush Jr. is playing out of his mind "Sure, hopeful. Hope for the best but prepare for that outcome not happening as well," Harbaugh said Monday night on his radio show. "Some other backs got in the ball game (against Nebraska). Christian Turner, Tru Wilson continues to do good things. O'Maury Samuels, those were some valuable touches for guys to get in the game and show what they can do. "You don't want anything that's going to linger a long time with Chris. He's such a … [Read more...] about Michigan ‘hopeful’ Chris Evans can play vs. Northwestern
