AS CLIMATE change group Extinction Rebellion kick off its third day of protest action in the capital, it says that "in total 290 rebels have now been arrested". THOUSANDS of students walked out of class to protest against climate change. We explain where the protests took place and how they started. Who organised the protests? Youth Strike 4 Change is organised by the UK Student Climate Network and UK Youth Climate Coalition. Students across the country took part in a strike because of an “alarming” lack of action from the Government to prevent climate change. The group is calling on the government to include young people in decision making when it comes to global warming. They are also calling for the voting age to be lowered to 16 so they can influence policy. The strike followed the lead of 16-year-old Greta Thunberg, a climate change activist from Sweden who has been skipping school every Friday since August 2018 to lobby her government over addressing global warming. YELLOW vest campaigner James Goddard has rejoined cheering protesters in a pub following his arrest in London on public order offences earlier today. The arrest came as hundreds descended on London streets at an anti-austerity rally in the capital. James Goddard reunited with Yellow Vest protesters in pub after arrest Goddard's supporters said he was about to hand himself in at Holborn police station at midday and was this evening pictured at a pub in Holborn. Metropolitan Police said in a statement: "We can confirm that a man in his 30s was arrested at 11.42hrs on Saturday, 12 January outside St James Park Tube station on suspicion of a public order offence." The man was taken to a central London police station and later released on bail until early February, the Met said. A GIRL aged 13 has been arrested on suspicion of attacking a cop at a pro-Brexit "yellow vest" protest in London. Up to 100 demonstrators clashed with cops in the capital today and set off smoke bombs outside Downing Street during the protest. The teenager held by cops was one of four arrested on Westminster Bridge today as traffic was brought to a standstill. Protesters marched across the country calling for a no-deal Brexit as they branded Theresa May a "traitor". In London, agitators wearing yellow hi-vis vests stood in front of cars and stormed down Whitehall towards Trafalgar Square in London.
