LABOUR’s breakaway MPs hope to unveil their first Tory defector “within days” as they fast-track plans to become a new political party. Sources told The Sun yesterday that talks were taking place between Chuka Umunna, Chris Leslie and a number of Tory backbenchers. And there were growing rumours last night that either Heidi Allen or Sarah Wollaston could announce they are leaving the Tories to join the ‘Independent Group’ as early as today before Prime Minister’s Questions. A MOTORIST was beaten up by takeaway delivery drivers when a ‘peaceful’ protest erupted into violence. The mob of Deliveroo moped riders ganged together and began punching and kicking a white van driver during a demonstration for workers rights, eyewitnesses said. Stunned onlookers intervened in the brawl but takeaway riders ignored their pleas to stop and smashed the van’s driver side window. The driver, who suffered cuts and bruises in the fight, retaliated by threatening the protesters with a hammer from the van. Construction worker Flam Kola, 33, who intervened in the fight told The Sun: "The driver had bruising across his face, these riders were so bad they wouldn’t have stopped beating him up unless me and my boss had stepped in. "He was late for work, he just wanted to get past the protest.” The protest was organised by the Independent Workers of Great Britain union who waved flags and chanted outside a Nando’s branch in Islington, north … [Read more...] about White van man charges at Deliveroo moped riders with a HAMMER after they batter him for storming protest
YELLOW vest campaigner James Goddard has been arrested by police in central London on public order offences. His supporters say he was about to hand himself in at Holborn police station at midday. The People's Assembly Against Austerity had organised an anti-austerity march, inspired by the yellow vest movement that has sprung up in France. The group had called for a national day of action on Saturday, with demonstrations being held in London and around the country from noon. Supporters gathered outside the BBC's Broadcasting House hoping to march to Trafalgar Square. Since forming in December last year the group has grabbed attention by blocking London bridges as well as confronting MPs and journalists, mostly outside the Houses of Parliament. Goddard, originally from Leicester, was recently filmed shouting at Remainer Tory MP Anna Soubry, calling her a "Nazi". In a Facebook video posted by the group Goddard is heard threatening to “make her life hell”. Yellow Vest … [Read more...] about Yellow vest campaigner James Goddard arrested in London on public order offences
