The year 2018 has been one of the most surprising ones in recent Bollywood memory, for it has been one where content ruled above all other elements in films. This year in particular, movies with unique content found solidification in Bollywood. While big-budget films (those with a lot of expectations associated) tanked at the box office, smaller films with lower budget and lesser known faces triumphed massively. One of the most shocking things about this year was that films with massive stars such as Salman Khan and Aamir Khan underperformed against the hopes and excitement of their fans, while lesser known faces like Rajkummar Rao, Vicky Kaushal and Ayushmann Khurrana emerged successful and catapulted these actors towards stardom.Additionally, the year also worked … [Read more...] about 8 game changers of Bollywood that wowed us in 2018

From DDLJ to KKHH, 5 Bollywood ‘classics’ that are now problematic
By Blogs Desk Published: October 14, 2018 0 SHARES Share Tweet Email Media and art is subjective to the culture and ideas of the day and age it is being viewed under. Like most millennials in Pakistan, we grew up watching Bollywood films. From films like Hum Saath Saath Hain to every single movie where Shah Rukh Khan opened his arms and struck his signature pose, it felt like we lived and breathed these movies, knowing all the songs and dance moves by heart as we watched our favourites on repeat. Growing up leaves you with significantly less time to watch movies, and a vastly more refined palette. As we grew older and ventured towards watching movies and TV shows produced in Hollywood (or “foreign films” for the most refined cultural consumer), we barely had a chance to revisit the movies we practically grew up on. When Tanushree Dutta said #MeToo but Bollywood didn’t care, because that stuff is only for movies
By Jyotsna Mohan Bhargava Published: October 7, 2018 0 SHARES Share Tweet Email Tanushree Dutta filed a complaint against Nana Patekar a decade ago, alleging that she was harassed by him. This is one real life story Bollywood will likely never make into a blockbuster, for after all, it involves one of their own. For instance, 66- year-old Shakti Kapoor, who himself has a dubious reputation, thought it was appropriate to joke about the matter. #WATCH:I don't know anything about this case. This was ten years back, I was a kid back then: Shakti Kapoor on #TanushreeDutta's harassment allegations against Nana Patekar. Irrfan Khan’s Karwaan may just be the best road trip movie Bollywood has ever made
By Sahir Palijo Published: August 6, 2018 0 SHARES Share Tweet Email Karwaan is a heart-warming movie which will not only tickle your funny bones, but will also leave you looking at life from an entirely different perspective. PHOTO: IMDB From the moment I watched Karwaan’s trailer, I knew this was a movie I had to watch at any cost, and there were a couple of reasons behind my excitement. Firstly, it starred the extremely talented Irrfan Khan. You know you’re in for something new when a heavyweight like Khan is involved, and with this being his first release since his battle with cancer, it made it all the more special. Secondly, Dulquer Salman, a famous Malayalam actor, was making his Bollywood debut through this film. Thirdly, the movie revolves around a road trip, and I have never heard of a road trip that wasn’t fun.The movie starts off with Avinash (Salman) being informed that his father has passed away in a road accident and his body has been sent … [Read more...] about Irrfan Khan’s Karwaan may just be the best road trip movie Bollywood has ever made
