A woman in her 80s was pushed to the ground and robbed during a home invasion in Brooklyn Christmas morning, police say. According to NYPD, the incident occurred on West 25th Street in the 60th precinct around 7 a.m. as the woman waited for her home health attendant to show up. Police say she left the door open and when she turned around she saw a stranger who pushed her to the ground and stole from her. It is unclear what exactly was taken during the home invasion robbery, police say. The victim was not seriously injured and the suspect fled the scene. A hawk gave new meaning to the term "early bird" traveler. A red-shouldered hawk was safely captured Christmas Eve at New York Penn Station by a detective with the NYPD Emergency Service Unit. In a tweet, NYPD Special Ops jokingly said the hawk "attempted to beat the holiday rush last night but missed the train." Authorities say the bird was not injured. It is unclear where the bird came from. New York — A 63-year-old Manhattan man discovered $10,000 cash inside a forgotten purse on his commute home. Richard Taverna, 63, said he didn't think twice about handing over the cash to authorities, CBS New York reports. "I noticed there was a purse sitting on the floor," Taverna said. "I figured maybe there was an address or something in there, and all I saw was a piece of paper with something Russian on it."The purse was sitting against a wall on the northbound 1 train platform, he said, and because there were no MTA workers nearby, he took it with him, hoping he could help find the owner. "It's New York, I guess you never know what you're going to find," he said, adding that he took the money straight to New York police. "There was never any question about keeping it," he said.
