(CNN)Karen Kwai-Ching Li, known as KC, has lived in fear of her osteosarcoma, a cancer of the bone, for almost 28 years. She was diagnosed in 1991, at the age of 10, but failed medication over two months resulted in her tumors spreading, leading to an amputation of her leg. After the surgery and six rounds of chemotherapy, she went into remission. Using her prosthetic leg to get around, she continues to see Dr. Godfrey Chan, a pediatric oncologist at Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong, to monitor her recovery and ensure that the cancer doesn't return. KC, a cancer patient at Queen Mary hospital, Hong Kong "My condition has been pretty stable," she said. To get through her treatment and the range of side effects of chemotherapy, KC turned to a seemingly contrasting practice: traditional Chinese medicine. Among the many non-conventional therapies available, the science emerging in energy medicine or “biofield” therapies, and its partner energy psychology, is proving to be the greatest challenge to Skeptical medical materialism. Underpinning the biomolecular properties of human anatomy and biology, energy medicine seeks scientific explanations for the cause and treatment of disease that occur at an atomic level. Briefly, energy medicine is “the application of … [Read more...] about Energy Medicine, the New Paradigm to Displace the Medical Establishment

Although portending to be an objective discipline of consistent progress, the medical establishment more often than not denies the insights, discoveries, medical systems and methodologies of the distant past and non-Western cultures. Rather, Western medicine is racing more rapidly towards a retro-future with a blind faith in the promises of new engineered, synthetic drugs. Sadly, this pursuit is misconstrued as synonymous with important medical breakthroughs and the evolution of scientific medicine in general. Yet as the statistics show, modern medicine is on a collision … [Read more...] about Chinese Botanical Medicine: Wikipedia claims it is fake, we are certain it is real
HEALTH 01/10/2019 07:00 am ET The truth is our early ancestors didn’t all die at 30 — and medical science has given us less of a boost than you think. By Ilana Strauss When I was a kid, adults told me that medicine would be so advanced by the time I grew up, I’d live to be 150. It seems possible. Alas, not for me, personally, but as a concept. After all, modern medicine has surely been extending the human lifespan for hundreds of years … hasn’t it? The 17th-century English philosopher Thomas Hobbes famously called life before the modern era “nasty, brutish and short.” People still echo that idea today, albeit without the same pithy elegance. “Hunter-gatherers all died when they were, like, 30,” a friend told me recently. “When the average old age death was people in their 40’s, did they look as old as people in their 90’s or 100’s look now?” asked someone on Quora. Many … [Read more...] about Does Medicine Actually Make People Live Longer?

It essentially means that antibiotics are “against life” as they are used to fight living bacteria that can cause harmful diseases. The problem is that when antibiotics are overused, this can result in antibiotic-resistant superbugs that can contribute to the ever-widening circle of medical challenges. This over-reliance on antibiotics needs to be scaled back down, or else we face the possibility of creating deadlier superbugs that have … [Read more...] about How to survive the wave of antibiotic resistant superbugs unleashed by modern medicine
