What I did do was walk the dogs and play golf (in a cart). Advertisement - Continue Reading Below Weight has long been a problem for me. I would say from age 9 or so I started to get heavier. I think the term back then was “husky.” Prior to now, I would say I spent most of my life minimally 20 to 40 pounds overweight. The problem was I ate for comfort. My diet really wasn’t that bad, though. I ate fish, salads, and lean meats, but the biggest problem I had was always consuming more calories than I was burning. I finally realized this after getting into running. Lent was approaching, … [Read more...] about How This Guy’s Starbucks Run Helped Him Lose 37 Pounds

A day at the spa was my wakeup call In June of 2000, I scheduled a spa day for myself. When I checked in at the desk, the receptionist handed me a “one-size-fits-all” robe. But it didn't fit me. I was mortified. I had to return to the desk and ask if they had a larger robe. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. When I returned to the dressing room with the … [Read more...] about ‘How I Lost 60 Pounds In 6 Months’

Things just got worse after I graduated high school in 2007 and started working at a tanning salon. It was a slow-paced job, and during the off season, I might sit in the same spot for hours, and I ate when I was bored on the job. Pizza, burgers, chips, sweets—you name it. Friends would visit me and bring more food, and even if I was full, I would eat. And I wasn't working out at all. Then, in late 2007, my brother was training for his first MMA fight, and I came to watch. I noticed that two men were essentially his eyes during the match, calling out suggestions to him to help him fight. I realized that Iwanted to be in his corner, helping him just like them. But first, I needed to understand the world of martial arts. So I joined a boxing gym.
