Yes, Robert Treglia was always a bit overweight. As a kid, he shopped in the “husky” section for his school clothes. But as a student athlete he was also highly active, which gave his life balance. That is, until his teen years arrived, and his weight became so problematic he didn’t make the cut for the team anymore. By the time he reached his 30s, he could no longer walk down the street without experiencing pain. He finally hit his breaking point at 602 pounds. But with a little perseverance and a lot of work, Treglia is officially out of the husky section after dropping nearly 400—yes, 400—pounds. “As I got older, my eating habits never changed. They actually got worse,” Treglia says. “There was always a new item out from a fast food place I wanted to try, or some amazing meal at a restaurant. I used food as a way to make myself happy. I couldn’t find happiness in myself, so food was my escape.” Treglia, who hails from … [Read more...] about A Few Easy Diet Changes Helped This Man Lose 400 Pounds

Name: Ashley RamirezAge: 22Occupation: College studentHometown: Slidell, LouisianaStart Weight: 230 poundsEnd Weight: 130 poundsTime Running: 1 year I weighed around 150 pounds when I started college. I was set to have ankle surgery in December of my freshman year, so I needed to wear a walking boot. I was unable to work out or do any kind of physical activity the whole semester. Plus, I was emotional-eating like crazy, since I was so nervous about the surgery that was still months away. I experienced the dreaded freshman 15—and then some. After that first surgery, I ended up undergoing two more orthopedic surgeries: the same surgery on my left ankle and a hip surgery. I was in and out of physical therapy, and it was nearly impossible for me to implement any fitness regimen. I finally reached 230 pounds. I completed the Disney College Program in Fall 2016, and I had the best time, but when I got home and shared my pictures with my friends and families, I couldn't believe the … [Read more...] about She Used Her Love of Disney to Start Running—and Lost 100 Pounds in the Process

I hovered around 210 after high school for a few years until I met my wife in 2010. Then I started to gain more. Not that she was a reason I gained weight—she just fed me, and I happily ate it all. Advertisement - Continue Reading Below My weight fluctuated over the following years, though, as I tried to lose weight by running. I went up and down, and even got my mile time down to eight minutes. But the successes never stayed, since I was essentially starving myself with my weight loss plan. I had huge, chunky cheeks from eating nothing but Popsicles for supper. At the time, I didn’t even know that sugar was unhealthy for you. Then, things began changing on November 4, 2014. That was the day my daughter was born. At first, having a child actually stopped what … [Read more...] about After Losing 87 Pounds, This Man Is Ready to Qualify for Boston
By David Goricki The Detroit News Published 6:53 PM EDT Oct 31, 2018 Dearborn Fordson’s state playoff run has hit a roadblock in Detroit Cass Tech the last four years and the annual postseason battle will take place again this season Saturday afternoon in the Motor City. Fordson — 8-2 and ranked No. 12 in The News Super 20 poll — will try to slow down the explosive offense of No. 1 Cass Tech (10-0), led by quarterback Jalen Graham (Purdue) and running backs Jaren Mangham (Colorado) and Lew Nichols (Central Michigan). Oh, and Cass Tech’s defense isn’t bad either, allowing just 22 points the last eight games, including a 42-8 PSL championship game rout of No. 10 Detroit King, while shutting out five opponents. Fordson has played Cass Tech tough, losing 27-22 a year ago, 28-21 back in 2014 and has weapons to compete, led by quarterback Hussein Ajami and 1,000-yard rusher Abraham Jaafar. “Everybody dreams to have a kid like Abraham,” said … [Read more...] about Dearborn Fordson faces familiar roadblock in No. 1 Detroit Cass Tech
