The “Breakfast Club” star detailed how the airline made an emergency landing so that her father, jazz pianist Bob Ringwald, could receive medical attention. Health Life Expectancy Lifestyle Diet Fitness diet and nutrition Scientists have identified five habits that could extend the average human lifespan by more than a decade in a major new study. Researchers at Harvard University investigated how a person’s diet, weight, exercise regime, and smoking and drinking habits affected their lifespan, in order to understand why adults in the U.S. have a higher mortality rate than the residents of almost all other high-income countries. The team was surprised by how significantly a healthy lifestyle appeared to boost life expectancy. To make their findings, the team assessed lifestyle questionnaires and medical records from over 123,000 volunteers completed over 34 years. The average life expectancy of participants who followed five healthy habits rose by 12 years in men, and 14 years in women, according to the study. A new study suggests that you can do just that by following these five healthy habits: never smoke, maintain a healthy body-mass index, keep up moderate to vigorous exercise, don't drink too much alcohol, and eat a healthy diet. Adhering to those five lifestyle factors at age 50, compared with not adhering to any of them, was associated with 14 additional years of life expectancy among women and 12.2 additional years among men in the study, published in the journal Circulation on Monday. Eighteen people injured including one left fighting for life after horror bus crash at Clyde Tunnel
EIGHTEEN people have been injured including one left fighting for life after a horror bus smash at the Clyde Tunnel. The First bus is understood to have hit a barrier, mounted an embankment and overturned at around 7pm tonight. Eighteen people were injured in the smash in Glasgow with eight currently being treated in hospital. One is at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, a further five - including the driver - are at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, and two are at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. A patient in critical condition is being treated at Queen Elizabeth. Dramatic photos show the bus tilting on its side surrounded by ambulances following the horror tonight. Police and fire crews are still on the scene and say the road is likely to remain closed northbound for some time.
