I lived on Manhattan’s Upper East Side entirely on a 22-year-old journalist’s salary. How was I able to finagle that? By ripping off my best friend. An inside connection landed me a studio apartment for way below the going rent. That was still more than twice what I could afford, however, so I advertised for a roommate. And my ad listed the total to be split as the going rent. Because why not? Basically, I would get to live in Manhattan’s most exclusive section—with Cher as my next-door neighbor and Woody Allen walking Soon-Yi right in front of my ground-floor window every morning—for $200 a month.Arthur, who couldn’t have been any more laid-back, responded right away and we got along great—which is the only way to get along in 500 square feet. I helped move him in. Before long, we hung out with each other’s friends and stumbled home from the corner bar several nights a week.Wait, it gets better. Arthur was a flight … [Read more...] about Should You Apologize to Someone Who Doesn’t Know They’ve Been Wronged?
Knowing right from wrong
Wanting great hair and not knowing how to get it—that basically sums where a lot of us are. Guys like John Hamm always seem to get it right; his hair looks smooth, not greasy. We have a vague understanding that conditioner might help, maybe even tried it a few times. But was it really helping? The reality: Conditioner can make your hair shinier, stronger, and just better looking. But whatever you’re lathering on in the shower might not be doing it for you. We had the experts break down how to do it right.“I’ve been doing this for over 30 years, and there’s no right or wrong thing that works for everybody,” says Albert Julian, a master barber based in NYC. “It depends on your hair.”So what kind of hair do you have exactly? Thick and coarse? Light and flyaway? As a rule, coarse hair will be thirstier. And the product that works for that guy might be too heavy for someone with finer hair.“Intensive therapy conditioners, and even daily … [Read more...] about You’re Using Conditioner Wrong
Have you ever looked around in this world and wondered why their are so many kids who are rude, into drugs and alcohol, swear at their parents and also yell at them? I look around and it amazes me that parents don’t want to take the time to parent their own kids. How sad is that? When kids are small, they are not bad, they don’t know right from wrong unless you teach them. So don’t you think it is our job as parents to raise them properly with love and morals? Why are people so lazy that they just let their kids do whatever they want? Parenting isn’t always a fun job. It’s very tiring and it is not fun to have to make your kids behave. Some kids are very strong willed at a very young age even as young as 1. So say they are strong willed at 3, what will they be at 13 if you don’t nip in the bud? But I don’t see parents in the world nipping anything in the bud, they just don’t want to be bothered and let their own kids run their life. That … [Read more...] about Bad Parenting
Some say they are capable of leading young Christians into the occult and yet others believe they contain excellent moral themes and show that the good wins every time. There’s a wide road between these two opinions. I’d like to review both sides of this issue. As mother of five kids between the ages of 11 – 19, I’m especially interested in helping other parents decide whether they should let their own kids read them. I’d like to look at both extremes, the serious concerns as well as the praises of this $24 billion dollar (literally) empire that seems to make money like magic. Teen Exorcists Say Harry Potter’s Magic Comes From Satan Three Christian teenage girls, say London’s reputation as being infested with witchcraft increased with Harry Potter. The girls appeared on a documentary in London in September 2013. One of the girls, Tess who is 18, told the The Christian Post: “I think it’s been centuries in … [Read more...] about Harry Potter: Selfless Hero or Satanic?
We fell into Love and haven’t climbed out yet. We have loved and hated. We argue and make up. We cry and laugh. We are parents and we are a son and a daughter. We survived our youth only to struggle through adulthood. The invincibility we felt in our youth brought us to places we should not have been and places we needed to be, to grow as people. We made good choices and we made not so good choices and these made us stronger and weaker and hopefully we learned and became wiser. We became parents with not a clue what that meant. No guide book to lead us. We did the best we could or hoped we did. We led our children into an adventure of their own called Life. Hopefully the many mistakes we made and are still making as parents will not be detrimental to them as humans. They are all highly intelligent and know right from wrong. It is just that a lot of times, wrong seems easier and more glamorous. But wrong usually leads to others being hurt and the wrongdoer losing self-respect. We … [Read more...] about My Thoughts on My Life,Love and Family…..
