Jets fans boo. But when a Buccaneers fan didn't like his team’s draft picks, he threatened to kill the general manager. The Bucs are reportedly investigating a threatening tweet one fan directed at GM Jason Licht after the team selected North Carolina defensive back M.J. Stewart in the second round Friday. According to The Tampa Bay Times, a fan identified as Mike Rogers, 38, went on a tweetstorm ripping the team and included one post the team feels may have gone too far. In one tweet, Rogers reportedly included a GIF from the Christopher Walken movie "King of New York" in which an NYPD officer is killed, along with the caption, "When I see Jason Licht next time I roll through Tampa." The tweet was deleted Sunday. "Yes, that was a total exaggeration," Rogers told the Tampa Bay Times. "Just caught up in the moment. It was just a tasteless tweet. I'm not a psychopath." Rogers tweets under the handle @LuvDemNoles22 and is a hard-core FSU, Bucs, Lakers … [Read more...] about Buccaneers investigating after fan threatens GM with ‘tasteless’ tweet

Disease hunters using DNA to investigate E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce
Disease hunters are using genetic sequencing in their investigation of the ongoing food poisoning outbreak linked to romaine lettuce, a technique that is revolutionizing the detection of germs in food. The genetic analysis is being used to bolster investigations and — in some cases — connect the dots between what were once seemingly unrelated illnesses. It also is uncovering previously unfathomed sources of food poisoning, including one outbreak from apples dipped in caramel. So far, most of the work has largely focused on one germ, listeria. But it is expanding. By the end of this year, labs in all 50 states are expected to also be using genetic sequencing for much more common causes of food poisoning outbreaks, including salmonella and the E. coli bacteria linked to recent lettuce outbreak. That means the number of identifiable outbreaks are likely to explode even if the number of illnesses don't. "There are a lot of outbreaks where they don't connect the dots. Now … [Read more...] about Disease hunters using DNA to investigate E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce

Devoted partner who took his dying lover of 33 years to euthanasia clinic Dignitas investigated by British cops
A DEVOTED man who took his dying partner to euthanasia clinic Dignitas so she could end her suffering is being probed by cops. James Howley was by Helen Johnson's side as she passed away aged 59 at the clinic in Switzerland after suffering from an agonising lung disease. But when the grieving 57-year-old returned to the UK, he was investigated by cops for six months on suspicion of assisting a suicide. He told the Mirror: "The stress and worry was unbearable at times. I was at rock bottom. There were times when I thought I wouldn’t get through it. "I was exhausted, fearing I would end up in jail – all for doing the right thing by the person I loved most in the world, so that she did not have to die an undignified and agonising death.” Helen was diagnosed with a lung disorder in 2004 called alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency that forced her to leave her job as a college lecturer. In 2015 she made the decision to contact Dignitas and carried out all the research … [Read more...] about Devoted partner who took his dying lover of 33 years to euthanasia clinic Dignitas investigated by British cops
