CAMBRIDGE, Ohio—The angry old white men in this no-frills meeting room in a $55-a-night hotel off Interstate 70 are mostly retired truck drivers and coal miners, the kind of blue-collar voters without college degrees who tend to get quoted in Rust Belt diners, defending President Donald Trump. They believe the system is rigged, that America has broken its promises to its working class, that the citizens who transport its goods, extract its energy, and shower after work rather than before have been shafted and forgotten. And while “economic anxiety” has become a punchline for pundits who believe Trump’s popularity with this demographic has more to do with racial resentment than trade or wages or health care, the economic anxiety in this room is real. These retirees are at risk of losing the pensions they worked for decades to secure, which is why they’ve gathered to hear the man they trust the most to fight for them in Washington. It’s not Trump. Chrissy Teigen Got Honest About Postpartum Buttholes. Now Can The Rest Of Us?
HUFFPOST PERSONAL 06/05/2018 08:30 am ET By Eleanor Goldberg When I realized I’d be having a baby around the same time as a princess, a supermodel, a Jenner and a Kardashian, I made some threats about quitting social media. Otherwise, I figured, I’d be spending my maternity leave torturing myself, scrolling through pictures of hot celeb moms who are able to do the impossible just days after giving birth, like zip up pants. LOLOL. I couldn’t really give up staring at strangers and famous people while breastfeeding my son throughout the day and night. So, for about two months, I settled into my nursing chair, wearing a steady uniform of maternity pants (read: no zippers, no buttons), paired with men’s Hanes T-shirts drenched in breast milk. From my phone, I watched the parade of A-listers drop their baby announcements and flawless postpartum bodies. There was Kylie Jenner sporting a crop top and a thong a month after having Stormi. And the Duchess … [Read more...] about Chrissy Teigen Got Honest About Postpartum Buttholes. Now Can The Rest Of Us?
Club 18-30 is an iconic institution… a rite of passage where kids become adults
IT is a hot July night in the late Nineties. Two hundred holidaymakers pour off four coaches at an open-air nightclub in the middle of the countryside on Ibiza. While everyone is being counted off their bus a hedgerow nearby rocks violently back and forth. The grunting and groaning can signal only one thing. The sun hasn’t set, not one vodka Red Bull has been downed and yet a couple are already having sex in the bushes. Moments later he strolls out smiling broadly and flicks the condom over his shoulder. She follows, readjusting her skirt. Everyone cheers. He does a fist pump to his mates and she pulls down her boob tube, flashing her breasts at her girlfriends. The same guy went on to have sex with five other women that evening. By the end of the night he was rubbing cocaine on his willy to try to maintain an erection. Over one summer I saw people having sex on stage, witnessed vast quantities of alcohol downed in seconds and dodged more puke on pavements in one hour than … [Read more...] about Club 18-30 is an iconic institution… a rite of passage where kids become adults
New Britain Race In The Park A Bittersweet Mother’s Day Tradition
After Kimberly King was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly three years ago, her daughters wanted to find a way to thank everyone who made a difference in their mother’s fight.Madison and Abigail, both in middle school at the time, found bundles of stretchy, pink bracelets with beads shaped like tiny turtles and elephants and monkeys. The girls left them out for friends and family who delivered fresh meals to the stoop of their Wethersfield home, and their mom carried the bracelets in her pocket, passing them out to her nurses and doctors at Hartford Hospital.Healing, the trio reasoned, was a group effort, and giving back only felt right. Now, King and her daughters are part of the wider effort to honor other survivors, to help buoy those who’ve lost loved ones and to stand with those who are still fighting. On the Saturday morning before Mother’s Day, the Kings were among dozens of mothers and daughters strolling, jogging and running side by side through New … [Read more...] about New Britain Race In The Park A Bittersweet Mother’s Day Tradition
