Once he returns from international duty, Morris wants to make his mark at Ipswich. Picture: STEVE WALLER The 19-year-old is part of the Young Lions squad that are looking to defend their European U19 Championship crown in Finland, Paul Simpson’s men having started with a 3-2 victory against Turkey on Tuesday night. It’s his first call-up at the level of international football having previously represented his country 12 times at U17 and U18 level. Opinion Andrew Papworth. Picture: Sonya Duncan Throughout my life, I’ve always taken a sort of pride in feeling quite young. Andrew Papworth. Picture: Matthew Usher I was the youngest reporter in the newsroom when I started my career aged 18. I was a young district chief reporter aged 21. I ran my own freelance operation when I was 24 and I was a weekly newspaper editor at 27. Yet as much I hate to admit it, that feeling of youth is dying away. In fact, still only aged 32, I must confess that I’m beginning to feel quite old, with little I can do to stop it. As I write that, I know it sounds quite ridiculous and possibly self-pitying. I can already hear older readers that scoffing that if I feel old now, wait until I get to 40, 50, 60 or older. I guess the turning point for me was at 30, which brought home that I was no longer in that very young 20s bracket. I had the same sensation coming out of my teens – but I still had so much youth on my side I didn’t … [Read more...] about I feel old and there’s nothing I can do about it
Liz Hopkins before and after losing 100 pounds(Photos submitted to the Owenton News-Herald) It took back surgery and the very real chance that she would eventually have to have it again to motivate a 250-pound, 40-year-old Kentucky woman with a list of health issues to decide to lose 100 pounds — and she says if she was able to do it, then so can you. Liz Hopkins, a registered nurse from Owenton who works in Lexington, told Molly Haines of the The News-Herald in Owenton that she had struggled with her weight since she was a teen, but it wasn't until her 30s that her unhealthy eating habits and sedentary lifestyle caught up with her. “I had developed high blood pressure; I had osteoarthritis in both of my knees, but the back surgery really scared me,” she told Haines. “That was rock bottom.” Hopkins had her back surgery for a herniated disk February 2017 and told Haines that her surgeon told her that if she didn't lose "a significant … [Read more...] about Woman who lost 100 lbs. gives message of hope to the 68% of Kentuckians who are overweight: ‘If I can do it, anyone can do it’
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico -- Family and friends gathered Sunday to mourn an Albuquerque bank executive who died after the Southwest Airlines plane she was on blew an engine in midair. Nearly a thousand people attended the evening service for Jennifer Riordan -- a beloved member of the community, a wife and mother of two. Now for the first time, Jennifer's husband Michael is speaking out publicly. Here's a transcript of his conversation with CBS News' transportation correspondent Kris Van Cleave. MICHAEL RIORDAN: One of the most comforting things through all this is she called me that morning ... she just called to check in on the day, how, what we were going to do that night when she got home and we ended with I love you, safe travels. KRIS VAN CLEAVE: How did you find out about what had happened? MR: There was a chaplain from the hospital that called ... and he said well I'm from Philadelphia I forgot the name of the hospital and I said well my wife was flying to … [Read more...] about Husband of Southwest Airlines victim: “I have no idea how I can do this without her”
By the time you read this, I'll be just a few days away from participating in my first 5K. You guys, I'm super nervous. I've never even remotely been a runner, and the closest I've ever come to being in a 5K was about five years ago. related advertisement Melynda Findlay, 49, Arlington Heights Starting weight: 226Current weight: 202Weight lost this week: 3 poundsTotal weight lost: 24 poundsTotal percentage lost: 10.6 percent It was with my boyfriend, Brian, and our friends, Ben and Melissa. Brian and Ben had been training for it -- a 5K obstacle course where they would be chased by "zombies." They did the race while Melissa and I sat in a patch of ragweed, cheered them on and munched on a giant Rice Krispies Treat. It was great (other than accidentally sitting in the ragweed), mostly because of the company, partly because of marshmallow-y goodness and also because I wasn't the one running.I mean, I like the idea of running; I've had this awesome recurring dream for … [Read more...] about My first 5K: I can do this, right?
