HUFFPOST PERSONAL 05/29/2018 09:13 am ET Tracy TuftGuest Writer If you had once told me that someday I would not only agree to have someone else’s poop put inside my body, but would enthusiastically welcome it, I never would have believed you. I, like most people, would have been repulsed by the very idea. But when you’re fighting for your life, the ick factor just doesn’t matter. My unexpected encounter with a fecal transplant began in May 2011, when I developed a tooth infection that required an antibiotic. I was on an immunosuppressant drug for my multiple sclerosis, which made me more susceptible to infections. I’d never heard of Clostridium difficile, a potentially life-threatening bacterium more commonly known as C. diff, and so I didn’t know I was even more vulnerable to developing it while taking a strong antibiotic. How losing weight changed my life
I’ve struggled with depression for years—I was diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety in 2012—but in 2016, it took a turn for the worse after a relationship ended.I began using food as a coping mechanism. I’d start each day with a 20-ounce soda, eat way too much junk food, and continue to snack at all hours of the night. Oh, and you couldn’t pay me enough to step foot into a gym. Courtesy Parisa Anahid By Parisa Anahid as told to Danielle Page Apr 20, 2018 I’m only 28, but I've struggled with my weight for most of my life.At 17, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, which meant pain and severe digestive problems that required meds to control. In March of 2011, when my symptoms were finally under control (and I could digest food without being in pain again), I was so happy that I began to overeat—and I gained around 30 pounds in a little over a year. Throughout college and after I started working, I kept putting on pounds. I got to a point where I couldn’t walk up and down stairs without getting winded. Sometimes, I even needed to use an emergency inhaler if I over-exerted myself. By the time I got married in October 2015, I weighed 50 pounds more than I’d been when I started college. I enjoyed my wedding day, of course, but when I looked back at myself in the photos, I felt disappointed and sad that I hadn’t … [Read more...] about ‘I Hated My Wedding Photos—So I Changed My Habits And Lost 100 Pounds’

The goal? To lose weight. Fast forward to today. You’ve cut out the fast food, revamped your diet and committed to an exercise routine. But the numbers on the scale haven’t budged at all. What gives? I’ll be the first to tell you that I’ve been there. For most of my young adult life, I weighed in just under the average for my age and height. Then, when I turned 25 I started taking an anxiety medication that catapulted the scale upwards a full 45 pounds — despite not having changed my diet or exercise routine. While I definitely have been hard on myself over the eight months since the weight gain, I took it upon myself to re-up my gym membership, sign up for ClassPass to give myself some variety and make more conscious food choices. Over the … [Read more...] about I’m doing everything right, but I’m still not losing weight. What’s going on?

So, Ms. Liepold, 33, of Parma Heights, Ohio, confronted her photographer for making her size 22 frame look more like a 14 and markedly trimming her fiancé, who wears a size XXXL. Her very public complaints started via social media, which led to interviews with the news media and a backlash against the photographer who kept the deposit but ended up waiving her fee and apologizing. Supporters from as far as Australia reached out to the couple. “They were all, like, ‘You’re beautiful the way you are.’ It was really heartwarming,” Ms. Liepold said. “I’m not a mean person,” said Ms. Liepold, who is planning a May wedding. … [Read more...] about Lose Weight?
