Welp.Oh, should I write more than just that? Alright, fine. The Philadelphia Eagles just aren't very good this season, as we all saw Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys on national television, and as we have already seen so far throughout the rest of this season, for that matter. They are now 4-5, and look a whole lot like a 4-5 team. As always, win or lose, we hand out 10 awards.1) The 'Spinning Their Wheels' Award: The Eagles' offenseIn so many games so far this season, the Eagles have been unable to put points on the board in the first quarter. They have scored 21 points in the first quarter, or 2.3 first quarter points per game. That's not good. #Analysis. We should probably just stop trying to compare this team to the 2017 team because they aren't comparable, but for the purpose of context, here's what that team did in the first quarter of games vs. what this team is doing in the first quarter:1st quarter points 2017 2018 Game 17 0 Game … [Read more...] about Handing out 10 awards from the Eagles-Cowboys game
Cowboys game who won
Bob Wojnowski The Detroit News Published 8:20 PM EDT Sep 30, 2018 Arlington, Tex. — So many big plays, so many bad plays, so many wasted plays. The Lions put themselves in position for a stirring victory and then took themselves right out, again and again, gaffe after gaffe. They stopped the Cowboys on third down, but whoops, someone lined up offside. They took the lead on another perfect strike from Matthew Stafford to Golden Tate, but whoops, the defense gave it right back in the final two minutes. The record will show the Cowboys were a desperate home team with a dominant back in Ezekiel Elliott, and he made the play of the game on a 34-yard catch over linebacker Jarrad Davis. Brett Maher then booted the winning 38-yard field goal at the final gun and the Cowboys edged the Lions, 26-24, on Sunday. The larger picture is, the Lions had to be especially creative to blow this. Wasted? A big effort from Stafford (24-for-30, 307 yards) and his acrobatic pass-catching … [Read more...] about Wojo: Undisciplined Lions blow game to Cowboys
Schuyler Dixon, Ap Pro Football Writer Updated 8:15 pm PDT, Sunday, August 26, 2018 ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Patrick Peterson hasn't faced a starting quarterback in the preseason. The three-time All-Pro cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals is getting himself in regular-season form anyway. Peterson returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown after Dallas decided to sit quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott in what was supposed to be the dress rehearsal, and the Cardinals rolled to a 27-3 exhibition victory over the Cowboys on Sunday night. The Cardinals (3-0) forced eight turnovers to give them 16 takeaways in the preseason. That included two muffed punts by Dallas (0-3), the second recovered for a touchdown by Trent Sherfield to open the scoring in the first quarter. Prescott's absence made it three straight weeks that Arizona didn't face the opposing starter. San Diego's Philip Rivers skipped the opener, and Drew Brees sat for New Orleans … [Read more...] about Peterson, Cards take 27-3 preseason win as Cowboys stars sit
Truth be told, if this is a can of worms that is going to be reopened, it is worth noting that players who kneel do so to raise awareness about social injustice and police brutality against minorities. These players are Americans, too. And they're trying to bring attention to issues that are often conveniently ignored in this country. We might say that makes them exactly the type of issues that should be advanced through high-profile peaceful protests. There are, of course, plenty of players who don't believe these protests are the most effective way to bring about change. We should respect their rights, too. Count Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott among those who believe action is a better way to go. But Jones has put Prescott and others in an untenable spot. They will now be criticized for protesting or kowtowing to their team's owner.Jones, of course, isn't exactly known for always making the right call. Remember, this is the same team that incomprehensibly signed pass rusher Greg … [Read more...] about Jerry Jones’ grandstanding over national anthem dampens fans’ enthusiasm for Cowboys’ season
