Mike Martindale The Detroit News Published 3:03 PM EDT Oct 12, 2018 Pontiac — Oakland County Circuit Court jurors convicted a Rochester Hills homeowner Friday for shooting at a lost teenager who showed up at his door seeking directions to his school. Jeffrey Zeigler, 53, was found guilty of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the April 12 incident at his home. As the threat of major news simmered, thunderclouds rolled in … [Read more...] about Inside the Trump bubble, ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ but no talk of Cohen

It's the city's second settlement of lawsuits filed by former DPW Director Steven Shaya. A federal court action was settled last March for $75,000. Shaya, a Chaldean of Iraqi heritage, claimed that he reported numerous instances of misconduct in city operations during his tenure, and that he was retaliated against for it by city administrators, police officers and employees in his department. Among Shaya's allegations was that minority-owned businesses in the city were selectively targeted for signage ordinance violations; that politically influential Arab and Bengali residents were targeted for building code violations, and that minority residents were denied public services such … [Read more...] about Hamtramck settles second racially charged lawsuit with former public works director
