From the year 1930 till 2003, the Nancy Drew series, comprising of 175 novels as well as 34 revised stories, has captured the hearts of its readers, particularly female readers, who found the tales of the brave female detective very intriguing. Although many authors tried to evolve the heroine’s character with changing times, culture and audience’s perception, throughout eight decades the central idea of the books stayed true to the original one that was created by Edward Stratemeyer. PHOTO: IMDB There are only a handful of stories that are uncommon and haven’t seen the light of the day in Bollywood. One such unconventional story was written by Akshat Ghildial and directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, who dared to take on the project and turn it into the much awaited movie Badhaai Ho. With his second major film as the director, Sharma opted for an unusual subject and paired it up with a talented cast that is appropriate for subject-oriented cinema. The movie stars Ayushmann Khurrana, who is already known for selecting unique films, veteran Neeta Gupta, Surekha Sikri and Gajraj Rao, all of them play their respective roles with utmost sincerity. PHOTO: IMDB This Eid we saw the release of many Pakistani movies. With Bollywood movies banned during Eid, Pakistani audience had no choice but to turn their attention to local films. Some movies made the cut and managed to entertain people, others, however, made us run for the exit door. Sadly, the recently released Na Band Na Baraati falls under the latter.
