Many supporters of gambling expected that a case that went before the U.S. Supreme Court a year ago would finally open the door to sports betting nationwide — even if the court’s ruling on the case came too late for most states, Minnesota included, to do much about it in 2018. Send them via Twitter to @davebirkett or by email to [email protected] Q. If ziggy come back on a 1 year prove it deal would that be such a bad thing for detroit? - @matt3lawrence A. Good place to start here on this week’s mailbag since the Lions put Ziggy Ansah on injured reserve Tuesday, likely ending his career in Detroit. First, injuries are something no player can control. I get that Ziggy wasn’t on the field a lot the last few years, but you saw the emotion on his face when he hurt his shoulder again last Sunday. He didn’t ask to be hurt, he worked hard to come back, and it’s a tough reality when all that comes crashing down in what’s an absolutely brutal game. Ansah is a talented player, one of the best pass rushers in the NFL when healthy, but at going on 30 years old and with … [Read more...] about Detroit Lions mailbag: Time to part ways with Ziggy Ansah

For BlockTower Capital cryptocurrency fund manager Ari Paul, this investment is no doubt looking bleak. A year ago, Bitcoin was trading at nearly $20,000. Now, its value is teetering precariously around the $3500 mark, reaching a low of $3,300 in early December. Experts in the cryptocurrency market say that Bitcoin value isn’t done falling, either — and for investors like Paul, that is bad news. While Bitcoin has endured peaks and valleys in its value in the past, it will take years for the market to recover and reach another peak. Either way, everyone is wondering what the future will hold for Bitcoin. The million dollar bet As Bloomberg explains, … [Read more...] about Investor bet $1 million that Bitcoin would rise above $50K… now it has plunged to almost $3,000

Stop now. Just stop it Carrow Road is gorging on the sort of drama that is usually reserved for the pages of a gripping thriller. It is certainly turning into a compelling story. Norwich had been pegged back again a stout Bolton, who made light of one win in the previous 15 and a backdrop dominated by reports of unpaid player wages. Phil Parkinson’s squad were committed and resolute after falling 2-0 behind in the second period. Parkinson threw on the heavy artillery and City buckled. Temporarily. After Sammy Ameobi had departed for a second yellow card in … [Read more...] about Paddy’s Pointers: Five observations from Norwich City’s last-gasp 3-2 Championship win against Bolton

Houston Texans strong safety Justin Reid (20) and the Texans... While the Texans are on a franchise-record eight-game winning streak, they are 5-3 against the spread, having failed to cover against Dallas, Buffalo and Washington. Thanks to their horrid start, they are only 5-6 against the spread. Of the teams with an 8-3 or better record, only the Rams are worse, at 4-5-2. It is tough to get a read on whether the books are viewing the Texans properly. They have been favored in eight games, including three road contests.
