However, a study published in Agronomy Journal shows that it is possible to avoid using them altogether. The researchers wanted to find out whether or not it was possible to achieve sustainable vegetable production through the use of organic amendments only. In a study titled “Can Organic Amendments Support Sustainable Vegetable Production?” they looked into a possible alternative to the use of conventional fertilizers in growing crops. The researchers had some core ideas in mind. The first one states that accounting for the Nitrogen (N) release from organic amendments could lead to improving N use efficiency, … [Read more...] about Soil management through crop rotation and organic amendments found to support sustainable vegetable production, eliminate need for conventional fertilizers
On Oct. 26, 2005, Alfred Caronia, a sales consultant for a little-known pharmaceutical company based in California, met with a doctor to discuss promotion of one of the firm’s drugs. The drug, a depressant called Xyrem, had been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat only certain patients with the sleep disorder narcolepsy. But Caronia maintained, in a conversation with a doctor that was recorded by federal investigators, that the drug could be used to treat an array of other sleep and muscle ailments. There was a problem with Caronia’s claims: None of those extra uses for Xyrem, the prescription version of a “date rape” street drug, had been approved by the FDA. In 2008, Caronia was convicted of violating federal law by pushing Xyrem for unapproved purposes, a practice known as off-label promotion. A Cunning Strategy to Back Door Risk Pools and Market Segmentation Ted Cruz has offered an amendment—since included in the latest Republican Senate draft—that would enable health insurance plans to offer stripped down coverage outside the current Obamacare compliant individual market. Anytime spent covered by them would be considered a break in service and subject the consumer to the six-month lockout provision should they want to get into the standard market. Carriers offering these plans could not deny pre-existing conditions but could up-rate sicker people. Critics, including the health insurance industry trade associations, have come out against the idea because it would bifurcate the market into two separate pools—the healthier “Cruz pool” and the standard individual market subject to all of the current Obamacare consumer protections. And, while the most recent version of the Cruz amendment would require insurers to pool both their standard … [Read more...] about What’s Really Behind the Cruz Amendment to the Republican Senate Plan to Replace Obamacare?

See also: Question for anti-gun protesters: When the government death squads come for your loved ones, how will you stop them? The Second Amendment was created to ensure that individuals have the right to protect themselves from irrational mobs What the anti-gun mindless mobs don’t seem to yet recognize is that the Second Amendment was created, in part, to allow citizens to protect themselves from mindless mobs just like you. That’s because America is not a democracy. It’s a Constitutional Republic, and in a Constitutional Republic, the will of the mob … [Read more...] about Someone remind the anti-gun mob: The Founding Fathers created the Second Amendment to protect us from mindless mobs JUST LIKE YOU
