A MUM gave birth to a real life “mermaid baby” but the tiny tot died 15 minutes later. Disksha Kamble, 25 stunned doctors when she gave birth to a baby with fused legs like a "fin" at a hospital in western India. The rare phenomenon called sirenomelia, or mermaid syndrome, is an extremely rare congenital development disorder which causes abnormalities of the lower spine and legs. Babies affected by the condition are born with partial or complete fusion of the legs. Disksha had only had one sonography during her pregnancy and the infants condition wasn’t picked up until birth. She was taken to Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Medical College, with her husband Nanoba Kamble, 32, on Monday morning. The 3lb 9oz baby’s legs were fused together and its sex could not be determined. A MUM chased a bike-riding thief for 15 minutes after he snatched her £130 Ralph Lauren handbag. Jessica Hill said she spotted the man grab her bag from her car - and immediately took off after him across open fields and along cycle paths. The 24-year-old said she had left her designer bag, which contained £100 in cash and bank cards, in the car by mistake after her mum's dog went missing and the family hurried out to find the pooch at Stockton-on-Tees. Speaking to Gazette Live, Jessica said: "I don’t know why, but I just jumped out of my mum’s car and ran after him. I followed him down the cycle path through Mandale Park. "It was just adrenaline. I never run. I don’t run for anyone, but I just took off. I was gone for a good 15 minutes."
