BRITAIN'S summer scorcher will kick up a gear after today's downpours — with a stifling 30C weekend to be followed by the hottest day of the year next week. A weather front rolling through the North West and intense thunderstorms in the South East gave many a soaking — after weeks of dry weather turned green Britain into a parched island. The intense deluge was expected to bring as much as 30mm of rain in an hour — the entire monthly average for this time of year. A Met Office Yellow weather warning spelled travel chaos for millions hitting the roads to start their summer trips on what was dubbed Frantic Friday. Forecasters told motorists to beware of flash floods, lightning strikes and road closures during the heavy rainfall on Friday. But the skies are set to clear this weekend, bringing long periods of sunshine and kicking up the thermometer into the mid-to-high twenties — or even 30C in the South. And next week will be even hotter — just as … [Read more...] about UK weather – summer heatwave to return TOMORROW with Brits to sizzle in 30C temperatures… it it’ll be even hotter next week
High above the ground, with a bird's-eye view of the surrounding neighborhood, might seem like a pleasant place to be for Jose Sandoval. But with the Dallas-Fort Worth area broiling under triple-digit temperatures, roofing, it turns out, isn't just a backbreaking exercise: It's life in a barbecue pit. And unlike most, roofers can't run for the shelter of air-conditioned buildings and cars, instead climbing onto rooftops as temps climb well above 100.In the Coppell neighborhood where Sandoval and his crew toiled, damage from a June hailstorm had spawned a wave of roofing work along multiple streets with a rash of roofing business signs, like mini track hurdles, left … [Read more...] about For Dallas-Fort Worth roofing crews, there is simply no hiding from heat

Forecasts predict sunny weather on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and there is no sign that dried-out fields will get much-needed rain. “If you are in need of rain, this is unfortunately bad news,” Thor Hartz, duty meteorologist with the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI), said. “The weather will be dry all weekend.
