This will be the first home game of the season for the Chiefs, who have ridden red-hot quarterback Patrick Mahomes to a pair of road victories. Mahomes is a two-time AFC Offensive Player of the Week as he’s set an NFL record with 10 touchdown passes in his first two games. Jimmy Garoppolo, meanwhile, is coming off a solid game in the 49ers’ 30-27 victory over the Lions, completing 18 of 26 passes and a pair of TD passes. He should have plenty of opportunities for big plays against the Chiefs’ defense, which has given up 65 points in two games. However, the 49ers obviously must figure a way to slow down Mahomes’ offense, which boasts game-breaking players such as receivers Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins, along with All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce. San Francisco will be aided by the return of standout second-year linebacker Reuben Foster, whose two-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on personal conduct and substance abuse ended last Sunday. The 49ers will face another pass-happy AFC West team next Sunday when they travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers.
