A 47-year-old man suspected of deliberately causing a Greyhound bus to crash into a guardrail on Interstate 25 was arrested Monday, authorities said Tuesday. Edmundo Arellanes-Audelo, a Mexican national, was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing with a weapon, assault, reckless endangerment, felony criminal mischief and hindering public transportation. The bus was driving north on I-25 near South Academy Boulevard to Denver when Arellanes-Audelo threatened the driver and the other 26 passengers with a knife, Fountain police said. While trying to attack the driver, he grabbed the steering wheel and caused it to crash into the guardrail on Interstate 25, a press release said. Arellanes-Audelo broke out a window and tried to flee, but was stopped by a passerby who pulled out a gun. Arellanes-Audelo dropped the knife and was taken into custody when police arrived.
