A MUM who was left with horrific facial injuries after she was mauled by her neighbour’s dog has blasted the jailed owner’s claims she was to blame for the attack. Patrick Maher, 47, was locked up for a year along with his partner Leeane McHugh, 37, after her American Akita lashed out at Sylvia Baillie. She was left scarred for life after three-year-old Kioshi bit her face when she was at the couple’s home in Paisley, near Glasgow, in July 2016. Maher has been released from prison and now claims Sylvia, 62, was bitten because she went to give the dog a “kiss”. He said it wasn’t his or McHugh’s fault and Sylvia has branded his accusation “absolute rubbish”. Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: “They said we stood back and did nothing but it all happened in a matter of seconds. It wasn’t our fault. “She was leaving and the dog was behind the couch sleeping. She patted me on the back and the dog stood up and then put its front paws on the back of the couch.” He said Sylvia “fell” towards the dog after she went to kiss it at their home following a funeral.
