And with drink specials aplenty, it’s easy to run the risk of having a few too many. But don’t drink and drive. The Christensen Law firm in Southfield will pay for free rides home from the bar through its “Safe Ride Home” program, now in its third year. What’s more, the program is expanding this year beyond metro Detroit to Washtenaw, Genesee, Bay and Kent counties, said founder David Christensen. The program has been endorsed by Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard and Genesee County Sheriff Robert J. Pickell. Read more: How it works: • The offer is good from 4 p.m. on Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday for persons age 21 and up. Not sure if you need a ride? Better to err on the side of caution. Michigan State Police are launching high visibility patrols starting Wednesday and lasting through Sunday for Thanksgiving holiday.
