My friend Keith Huffman (@LynchburgWx on Twitter) shot this video (linked here) of damage along Timberlake Road in Lynchburg on Sunday evening. Also, for coverage of the aftermath of severe storms/likely tornadoes in Danville and Lynchburg areas, please visit our sister publications at godanriver.com and newsadvance.com. The Weather Journal blog will be taking a break through at least April 23 with no new updates during that time. The general pattern for the next several days is for short warmups followed by cooldowns behind cold fronts arriving every 3-4 days or so with periods of showers and possibly thunderstorms. No extreme heat (90s) or cold (mid 20s or lower) is expected during the next 1-2 weeks, even though temperatures will go up and down quite a bit. Please visit the National Weather Service at Blacksburg website linked here for the latest local forecasts, advisories and any watches or warnings. I’ll be back with you later this month.
