Liberty Ross wants her husband to stay away from Kristen Stewart – and that includes on set.
The model and wife of Rupert Sanders, who was caught kissing Stewart in a series of steamy photos last month, has put her foot down and told her husband he can’t sign on for the sequel to “Snow White and the Huntsman,” if he wants to salvage their marriage, according to RadarOnline.com.
“Liberty let it be known in no uncertain terms that Rupert can’t direct the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman,” the gossip site quotes a source as saying.
“They are trying to work things out after he was caught having an affair, and that is one of the sticking points. She just doesn’t want him to ever work with Kristen again.”
Prior to the scandal it was assumed that Sanders would return to direct the second film on the heels of the first movie’s success, but he reportedly hasn’t inked a contract yet.
Actress Kristen Stewart and director Rupert Sanders were way less than “snow white.” Here they are keeping up appearances at a “Snow White And The Huntsman” Los Angeles screening at Westwood Village on May 29.
Universal Studios maintains Sanders is still attached to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter, but a source told the magazine that Stewart’s contract for the original film specified that she would be involved in a sequel, while Sanders’ does not.
“Rupert is obviously disappointed because ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ was his directorial debut, and he had hoped on building on that with a follow-up after some decent reviews,” Radar’s source said.
“But he knows his actions were inexcusable, and he’s going to have to bite the bullet and listen to his wife on this one.”
The 41-year-old British director was previously best known for his award-winning work directing high-budget advertisements, and saw “Huntsman” as the first of many feature films he planned to make.
He gushed openly about the possibility of doing a sequel in June, after the first film opened, telling the Guardian, “I’m actually ready to get back.”
“I’ve got an interesting theme in mind, so we’ll see,” he said at the time. “If it’s right, we’ll do it, if it’s not, we wont.”
Shamed director Rupert Sanders is spotted out and about in Hollywood looking very thin and drawn, but still wearing his wedding ring. This is the first time Sanders has been seen in public since news of his affair with Kristen Stewart broke.
But given his new arrival to Hollywood and Stewart’s established status as a leading lady cemented by the success of the “Twilight” films, Sanders may find himself expendable as the scandal wears on.
“Kristen, as the film’s lead, will get preference over Rupert and Universal will just find another director,” the source told Radar.
